The Fulton City School District has an opening for a Special Class Teacher at Lanigan Elementary School, beginning Jauary 13th. This is a probationary position.
Candidates must possess a valid NYS teacher certification in Students with Disabilities (SWD) All Grades or equivalent.
The job duties of a Special Education Teacher include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direct instruction to students using a variety of instructional techniques
- Plan and deliver lessons at the appropriate grade level based upon district curriculum
- Plan and incorporate assessments to measure student academic progress and growth
- Maintain records of student academic progress as well as other records or data required by regulation or district policy
- Incorporate behavior management systems consistent with building or district procedures or initiatives
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding matters related to student academics, behavior, or any other matters related to a student’s school experience
- Supervise students as necessary and as assigned outside of the classroom
- Administer policies and procedures that apply to students and the school
- Develop and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans as required
- Individual Education Plan (IEP) development and implementation including test accommodations and program accommodations
- Collaborate with content area teachers as necessary as well as other professional staff such as counselors, school-home liaison, and psychologist
- A teacher in a self-contained classroom will be the lead instructor and collaborate with other classroom teachers when a student’s schedule includes partial instructional time in regular classroom settings.
- Supervise and direct the activities of teaching assistant and teacher aide where applicable
- Supervise and direct the activities of teaching assistant and teacher aide where applicable
- Participate in professional development activities as scheduled by the district and/or building administration
