This is a probationary position.
The Fulton City School District offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package:
Starting Salary: The base starting salary for this position is $63,746.
Master's Degree Stipend: An additional $2,598 stipend is provided for teachers holding a Master's Degree.
Graduate Credit Reimbursement: We offer $140 per graduate credit towards a Master's Degree (beyond the initial degree).
Experience Credit: Teachers receive an additional $500 per year of certified experience.
Comprehensive Benefits: Includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as participation in the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System (NYSTRS).
The Secondary Special Education Science Teacher will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Instruction and Curriculum:
Plan, develop, and deliver engaging, standards-based science instruction (e.g., Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics) tailored to the individual learning styles and needs of students with disabilities in a secondary setting (grades 7-12).
Implement effective co-teaching models with general education science teachers, as required.
Integrate appropriate technology and hands-on laboratory experiences into instruction.
IEP Development and Implementation:
Develop, write, and implement student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including present levels of performance, annual goals, and specially designed instruction.
Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress toward IEP goals and adjust instruction accordingly.
Serve as a resource and case manager for assigned students, ensuring compliance with all state and federal special education regulations.
Collaboration and Communication:
Maintain regular, professional communication with students, parents/guardians, general education teachers, administrators, and support staff regarding student performance and needs.
Actively participate in departmental, school, and district meetings, professional development opportunities, and CSE/CPSE meetings.
Classroom Environment:
Establish a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment that promotes respect, active participation, and high expectations for all students.
Implement positive behavior intervention supports and classroom management techniques.
New York State Teacher Certification in Students with Disabilities (SWD) Grades 7-12 Generalist or an appropriate grade-level SWD certification AND a certification in a Secondary Science area (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Physics). OR a willingness to pursue the science certification immediately.
Master's Degree in Special Education or a related field (preferred but not required).
Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and modifications for students with various disabilities.
Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
