The Fulton City School District is seeking a visionary and dedicated Director of Nutrition Services to lead our school meal programs. Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, you will oversee the operations that fuel our students' academic success, ensuring every child has access to healthy, delicious, and compliant meals in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct all aspects of the district’s food service program, including menu planning, procurement, and staff supervision across all school buildings.
Ensure strict adherence to USDA National School Lunch and Breakfast Program regulations, New York State Department of Education standards, and local health codes.
Manage the department budget, including state and federal reimbursements, labor costs, and vendor contracts.
Modernize cafeteria experiences to increase student participation and enhance nutritional education.
Collaborate with parents, students, and staff to align meal offerings with the diverse needs of our community.
Recommending, recruiting, interviewing and orientation process for food service management team
Using POS systems (Nutrikids Enterprise) to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of food service operations
Develop purchasing guidelines to ensure purchased food and supplies reflect product knowledge, customer preference, district needs, policies and nutrition objectives
Oversee the implementation of a Hazard Critical Control Point (HACCP) plan to reduce the risk of food related illnesses
Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the professional standards established by the United States Department of Agriculture for school nutrition directors under the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. Qualified candidates must possess one of the following:
Bachelor’s degree in food nutrition, dietetics, food service management, hospitality management, culinary arts, business administration, or a closely related field, OR
Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant school nutrition experience, OR
Associates degree in a related field and one year of relevant school nutrition program experience.
A minimum of 3 years in a large-scale food service management role, preferably within a K-12 public school setting is preferred
Strong proficiency in food service software, budget management, and team leadership
Compensation & Benefits:
Starting Salary: $85,000.
